Yesterday afternoon Cindy was admitted to the University of New Mexico Hospital to begin her fourth round of chemotherapy. Typically she receives her therapy on an outpatient basis. This time, however, her Oncologist decided to administer it from the hospital. Because she had an allergic reaction the last time she received cisplatinum Cindy needs to be monitored more closely. Also by giving her the drug from the hospital it can be given much more slowly and as a result there is a better chance she will tolerate it. It will take about 24 hours for this drug to be infused into her system. Then on Thursday Cindy will receive a second drug. We are not really concerned about a reaction to this one. On Friday she will receive a new drug that is designed to go after the cancer cells and not allow anymore to grow or spread. So, once again I am asking you to pray that Cindy will be able to receive the treatment that so far has been very effective. As of 3:00 on Wednesday she seems to be tolerating it just fine. Please pray that each of these drugs will due what they are supposed to do and she will not have any adverse side affects.
I must tell you one of the faith affirming parts of this experience is to witness the power of God through answered prayer. A few days ago I was reading over past blogs and I was frankly amazed to see the wonderful ways God has heard and answered. In future posts I will list some of the specific answers. Thanks as always for your prayers and wonderful responses to this blog. It is so good to hear from new and old friends. Your responses really encourage and bless Cindy. I think in the coming days you may even hear from her on this site.

Cindy and Kevin,
I just got caught up with the history of this fight from the first blog entry to the last. Being so far away from you, it is good to have this medium. Thanks, Kevin! Your words are inspirational. Cindy, you are on my mind so often throughout the day. I believe with all my heart that you will be healed of this dreaded disease and through it be blessed and in turn, continue to bless others with your faith. I can "see" you and "hear" you in Kevin's words describing your incredible testimony to God's love and how He is our sustainer. I will continue to follow your progress and will be utilizing the prayer pager. It's not that I haven't been praying for you. I certainly have. Just never called the pager. I'll try to at least call at a decent hour since 5am in Tennessee is a bit earlier in New Mexico!
Lots of love and hugs and prayers for all of you,
Glynda Nichols Turner
Kevin and Cindy,
Please forgive me Kevin for my endless questions. I know you must think I do not pay attention, and you are right in your thinking. I am too busy trying to do too much and don't stop to take the time to be more informed. So, I am going to use this site to make myself more informed and hopefully be of more comfort and support and encouragement to both of you.
Bill and I pray daily for both of you. You are on our minds more often than not. We are always very hopeful knowing that you are both God's finest here on earth. You have taught us how to trust in God in your teachings and daily living, and so we do.
We are excited about the new medicine. We know how hard you have been working Cindy, so we ask God to continue to bless your progress and your work.
We recognize your work also Kevin and the wonderful job you are doing with your sons so we ask God to give you everything you need for the day to keep your spirits high and to give you the energy you need to take care of your family. Your words on Sunday are so very, very special to all of us. So realize that we see you both as a power of strength and devotion to God and your family. There is no better models for us than you two right now.
God bless your stay in the hospital and may you find many new friends as you did at Pres. We love you very much.

Like everyone else, I appreciate so much the updates you post for us. Cindy, I think you know how much you mean to me, but sometimes I just need to tell you that I love you so much. You are the closest thing I ever had to a sister and I think about you and pray for you daily. Kevin, I don't want to leave you out. I love you too and pray for you and your sons every day. I miss you both and hope to see you soon. Love, Kristi
Kevin and Cindy, we are still with you. Glad to read this treatment is going well. We trust it will continue so. Our prayers continue for your well-being in this trial. We are strengthened by His love. "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever" (1 Chron. 16:34).
When I read this morning's devotional by Max Lucado (below), Cindy sprang to mind! I just HAD to share it with you...it's a wonderful affirmation of our FAITH and God's committment to respond to it. I hope it touches you as it as touched me. Once again, you will never know how much you are loved...Paul and Teri

"the One who came still comes and the One who spoke still speaks"
September 1st
[Peter] shouted, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught Peter.
MATTHEW 14:30-31
We come to Christ in an hour of deep need. We abandon the boat of good works. . . .We realize, like Peter, that spanning the gap between us and Jesus is a feat too great for our feet. So we beg for help. Hear his voice. And step out in fear, hoping that our little faith will be enough. . . .
Faith is a desperate dive out of the sinking boat of human effort and a prayer that God will be there to pull us out of the water. Paul wrote about this kind of faith . . . :
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast" (Eph. 2:8-9 NIV).

Kevin & Cindy,
It's after midnight here in GA, and I have my alarm set for 5:45 AM, but having trouble going to sleep, so spending some quiet time in prayer. Of course, I pray for you guys in the start of my prayers, and then skip to others, and to giving thanks, and then back to you again, and then to others, and all over the place (my mind tends to do that), but ALWAYS back to you and ALWAYS seemingly asking the same things over and over again. I am almost afraid that God will be angry with me for asking of Him the same things over and over again on your behalf, but that's just what I do. Of course, I pray that His will be done no matter what, but I pray and pray that you guys will be restored to your normal health and happy family life soon. I am so grateful to you both in keeping us all posted in this blog. It is such an outreach of love on your part, and allows so many of us to "reach back". I WILL NOT stop praying or thinking of you all DAILY and MANY TIMES throughout the day until this is all behind you. You are in my constant thoughts and daily prayers. I'm so proud of you Cindy. I always knew you were a fiesty little thing, but you're proving that still! You go girl! You're my hero. You keep doing what you're doing, and we'll all keep praying and sending all of our best love and energy your way, and this will all be a fuzzy memory before you know it. And of course, you'll be EVEN STRONGER when it's all said and done. I'm so proud and honored to be your friend. Thank you again for keeping us posted. We all love you so dearly.
XOXOX
