Good News of Great Joy!

I mentioned in previous posts that we would have some information regarding Cindy's CAT scan by Friday morning. We got some very good news, however, on Thursday afternoon. Our surgeon came in with a big grin on his face. Our surgeon has what I would call a surgeons persona. He is very serious and measured not prone to, shall we say, being overly optimistic. For him to have a huge smile spoke volumes and said to us we may have some reason to rejoice. In short he said the CAT scans showed significant progress in every area. While Cindy still has the disease and work to do, the chemo treatments are proving very effective. Praise the Lord! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. We both realize we still have along way to go and yet this is the best news we have heard since we have begun this journey. Cindy cried tears of joy when the doctor explained to her how affective her treatment has been thus far. We do not know yet what the next step will be. Our Oncologist will help chart the course for us tomorrow. But for now we rejoice and give thanks and praise to our Great Physician, the Lord God Almighty!

Kevin

Praising God here in Hardy, Arkansas! We are thrilled with this wonderful news!! We won't let up on our praying, though. Expecting full healing for you, Cindy. Our prayers are with you all at all times. As someone else mentioned earlier, much much more than the prayer pager goes off. A phone isn't always handy when praying. Hallelujah one more time! Thanks for keeping us posted!

I WAS FILLED WIYH JOY AS I READ THE EMAIL YESTERDAY, THEN SEEING YOUR POSTING ABOUT THE LORDS PRAYER REMINDED ME ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES WE HAVE HAD THE CONVERSATION ABOUT OUR "DAILY BREAD" AND HOW OFTEN WE OVERLOOK THE FACT THAT HE IS IN CONTROL AND WE NEED TO ACCEPT THAT FACT. I WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY THAT THE LORD GUIDES THOSE WHO ARE TREATING CINDY AND THAT SHE WILL REMAIN STRONG ENOUGH TO RECEIVE THE FULL REGIMEN OF TREATMENTS AVAILABLE.
I LOVE YOU BOTH
TOM

Kevin and Cindy,
You know that we're all embroiled as a church family when we call each other multiple times daily just to say, "Kevin updated his blog - go read it!", "Have you read the comments? Yesterday there were seven and today there are eleven! Go read it!" Your blog yesterday caused quite a little stir. How GREAT is our GOD!

I taught Trey's class this past Wednesday night and the story was about Jesus washing the disciples' feet. Of course, we washed one another's feet - except Trey. He took great delight in keeping his sandles on and making the little girl next to him struggle to wipe his big toe. But when we began talking about why the disciples thought Jesus was so important (and had no business washing feet), kids in class suggested that it was because he could work miracles. Some said he could raise people from the dead, some said he could make crippled people walk, etc. When one child said that he could make sick people well, I looked up to see Trey directly in my line of sight. Being a man of few words, he didn't say anything. He just looked intently at me and nodded his head over and over again. There is a mighty, believing man of God in that 4-year-old skin. Just wanted to share...

With continued praise and prayer,
Molly, Phil, Hannah, and Sutton

Truly, this is the best news Dane and I have heard all week! We are so excited for this very sought-after answer!
The other day when I was at the hospital, our team of residents and med-students went to a patient's room to see whether or not she was improving, etc. When we walked into her room we noticed that she happened to have this gigantic poster that people had signed, colored, put stickers on etc. for encouragement. Because it was so impressive and demonstrated such great love and care, one of our residents asked where it came from and the patient said (with great joy) that the kids from her church had made it. This made me think of Cindy, and how she has ministered to her nurses, doctors, lab techs, and other people on her healthcare team while even in this state of "disease". And I really think the Holy Spirit made me realize that Cindy is in such a place of honor. It may sound bizarre, but truly I don't think that if I were to experience what you have Cindy, that I would be such a wonderful ambassador for the Lord. You and your family are so amazing and precious to use this to really show GOD to anyone who comes in contact with you! I don't think I know very many people (myself included) that would be suited to do or chosen to do the hard but glorious work you all do! You are the Christians we pray we can be more like! Dane and I are so thankful for you guys and are thrilled to hear the treatment is going well! Praise God!! Love you guys! ~Dane and Becca

Dearest Cindy,
How does it feel to be (most likely) the most prayed for individual on the face of this planet right now? Do you ever stop to think of the sheer volume of prayers that are going up on your behalf each and every day?! When I consider it, it blows my mind! You are ONE SPECIAL LADY, and in case you didn't know that to start with, you surely should know it now. You and Kevin are an inspiration to US ALL! I am SO THRILLED to hear of the latest news. I am throwing hugs and blowing kisses all the way from Conyers, GA, here. So if you feel a little breeze, that would be me! I love you so much girlie and am SO PROUD of you. Keep fightin'. Keep believin'. And don't forget for a moment how MANY of us are out here rootin' for you. And Kevin, you are EXACTLY right to take it one day at at time, and trust in His will. I love you brother and I'm so glad that Cindy has you and that you have her. You two have always been and continue be so blessed, despite these setbacks. When all is said and done, and all this "unpleasantness" is behind you, I have no doubt you will cherish one another more than ever. I pray that God wraps his arms around you both and that you feel His comfort always. And remember how much we love you.
All my love,
Karla
